If you’ve spent the last few months seething with jealously as Disney fans in the US, Australia and a number of other territories have been free to stream a barrage of exclusives, childhood classics and more – today is your lucky day.
Disney+ has launched in the UK, meaning you can sign up right now for either a yearly fee of £59.99 or £5.99 per month. But you can actually stream free for the first six months if you’re an O2 customer.
Earlier this month, O2 announced it would be the exclusive mobile distributor for Disney+ in the UK. What does that mean you wonder? Well, new and upgrading pay monthly customers can get six months access to the streaming service absolutely free with their plan.
That said, if you don’t feel like upgrading, you can always add Disney+ to your phone plan for £5.99 per month and the network will knock £2 a month off your bill. That means you’ll be able to get access to over 500 films, over 350 series and 26 exclusive Disney+ Originals for the equivalent of £3.99 per month. Not bad, eh?

Announcing the new initiative, Mark Evans, CEO of O2, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Disney to bring these incredible shows and movies to our customers, demonstrating that there are more reasons than ever to join the UK’s No.1 network.”
Jan Koeppen, President, The Walt Disney Company EMEA added: “We’re delighted to work with the award-winning mobile network O2 on the UK launch of Disney+, which represents a new chapter in the way Disney delivers our timeless stories to fans.”
If you’re not on O2 or don’t plan switching provider, you’ll be pleased to hear Disney will be offering a seven-day free trial for its new streaming service. That’s plenty of time to find out whether it’s right for you or not… or to see how many of the service’s 600 plus episodes of The Simpsons you can binge in that time.
The Mandalorian is easily Disney+’s biggest exclusive so far and is responsible for all those Baby Yoda memes you’ve seen decked across the internet.
Don’t think Disney+ is a one-trick pony though, there’s also a ton of other content in the works. There’s a live-action make of the Lady and the Tramp on the way in addition to a Toy Story TV series centred around a new character called Forky. High School Musical fans can also look forward to the somewhat bizarrely named High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, too.
Then there’s Disney’s huge catalogue of content from its subsidiaries Pixar, Marvel, Fox and National Geographic. And yes, all the classics from your childhood will be available on-demand as well.
Streaming Disney+ couldn’t be simpler. If you can name a device with an internet connection it’s pretty likely to support the service. Better yet, you’ll be able to download content as well – perfect if you want to binge on the commute without racking up a huge data bill.
