Best Treadmills for 2020 – which model is best for your budget?

It's the New Year, and we're already over two weeks into 2020 – around the time when many New Year's Resolutions are at breaking point. If you've taken up running, you'll know all too well the fear of stepping out into the cold, wet, dark of January.

Don't panic, though – fitness equipment is actually more affordable than you'd think, and treadmills are a great way to stay in shape and stay dry!

With so many to choose from, it can be tough to narrow down your choices. There's different makes, models, shapes and sizes, and it can all feel a bit overwhelming while you're walking around high street stores like Argos, John Lewis and Sports Direct, or clicking through Amazon reviews.

We've done the hard work for you (well, apart from the running itself), meaning you can focus on your training. With that in mind, here's some of the best treadmills we've found – with something to suit all budgets.

Best Exercise Bikes 2020

KETTLER SPORT ARENA TREADMILL

Hitting the right balance between price and quality, this Kettler offers a top speed of 18kph – so you can really bring out your inner Usain Bolt.

It has a 12 per cent climb function, and while the running deck isn't the largest, it helps the Kettler fit into your life a little better.

LIFE FITNESS PLATINUM CLUB SERIES

If you're looking for a premium running experience and have the money for it, this Life Fitness treadmill feels like it offers almost too much.

With a 16-inch touch screen (yes, it has Netflix), some incredible build quality and a ridiculously comfortable running deck, you'll never want to let it go. Which is just as well, because it's incredibly heavy at 206Kg, so you'll probably have to build your room around it.

YORK FITNESS ACTIVE 120

None of the treadmills on this list could be considered "cheap", but this York Fitness is kinder on your wallet than most. Not only does it fold up, it also has a pulse monitor and 13 preset workouts.

It's limited to 16kph, but it could be ideal for kickstarting the new you – with money left over for a cheeky trip to buy new clothes to congratulate yourself.

ADIDAS T-16 TREADMILL

Reputable brand? Check. 18kmph top speed? Check. Comfortable (and cushioned) running deck? Check, check, and check again. This Adidas model isn't cheap, but offers some sensational running conditions.

As a bonus, it folds up – which makes it a little easier to fit in your home. It's not the best-looking treadmill on the list, mind.

ASSAULT AIRRUNNER

As we noted when discussing exercise bikes , Assault offers something a little different for users – and their treadmill is just as unique. Focused on HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), it responds to the user's pace – so it can essentially go as fast as you can, unless you're The Flash, presumably.

It's very expensive, but built to last up to 150,000 miles of use – more than most people probably drive in their lifetime.

Price: £3910.00 from Amazon – Buy here now

Treadmills at CES 2020

As that Assault model shows, there's plenty of room for fresh tech in the treadmill market, and CES 2020 (or Consumer Electronics Show) offered a glimpse into the new indoor running tech coming soon.

The Amazfit Homestudio is a new smart treadmill that uses computer vision technology to keep an eye on your form and offer running tips.

It also has a 43-inch "smart mirror" screen and JBL speakers that can show you some classes like yoga and more. We don't know when it's coming, but it would be fair to say it so.
