Amazon Prime Video finally gets this Disney+ and Netflix feature

It’s taken far too long, but Amazon is finally adding profiles to its Prime Video streaming service. That means you can now allow other family members to stream on your account without muddling up films and TV series’ you’re currently watching.

The addition of new profiles also means you won’t have to worry about others messing with your recommendations, either.

According to Gadgets 360, Prime Video now lets users create up to six profiles for each paying account. That’s more than enough to fill an entire household and then some.

It’s worth noting while users are able to create six profiles, Prime Video still only lets you stream on up to three devices at once. That means not all six profiles will be able to binge on the latest TV shows or Hollywood blockbusters at once.

Gadgets 360 said the feature is currently rolling out in “selected countries”, of which India is confirmed to be one. That means if you log into your Amazon Prime Video account and don’t see the new option, that’s because it’s not available in your territory yet.

If it is available, you should see a message pop up the next time you log into Amazon Prime Video alerting you to the added functionality.

As shown by XDA Developers, it will read: “Introducing Prime Video profiles.

“Profiles give each person on your account a personalised experience. Switch of add profiles in My Stuff.”

The addition of the profiles feature has certainly been a long time coming, primarily because both Netflix and even Disney+ – that launched in the UK yesterday – both allow users to create profiles for each paying account member.

Netflix allows users to create up to five separate accounts while Disney+ maxes out at seven. However, if you’re paying for its basic £5.99 per month plan, Netflix will only allow you to stream on one device at once.

Conversely, Disney+ lets you stream on up to four devices at once for its £5.99 per month package. You’ll have to pay for Netflix’s £11.99 per month Premium package for the same courtesy.

Amazon Prime Video costs £7.99 and also grants access to Amazon’s signature Prime delivery service.
