BT has just announced that millions of customers will face higher prices from next month. According to a report from the team at MoneySavingExpert, the hike will come into force from March with some broadband, home phone and mobile contracts going up by 1.3 percent.
The telecoms firm has now begun informing customers of the change which will affect anyone who signed up to a new plan between 11 January 2019 and 16 January 2020.
Confirming the rise a BT spokesperson said: “We froze prices in 2019 for broadband, mobile and landline customers, so this is our first price rise in nearly 18 months. We know price rises are never welcome, but… we have now linked price changes to CPI to make our pricing fairer and more predictable for our customers.”
Although that rise won’t go down well with those hit by the increase, BT is currently offering a way to actually reduce your bills.
The supplier has announced that it is giving customers the chance to get the web beamed into their homes for under £30 per month with one offer saving a huge £240 over the term of the contract.
BT is even boasting this is better than anything it offered on Black Friday so it’s definitely worth considering if your current deal has ended.

It’s been a pretty busy time for BT with one final big announcement coming this week.
The telecoms giant has just revealed it’s launching a new TV service which will bring a more flexible way to watch the latest content.
BT says its new service will offer users the freedom to choose the TV shows, films and sport they want, when they want – with the flexibility to upgrade or downgrade their package every month.
The bundles, which start from £10 per month, include a swathe of content and you can even get instant access to Sky Sports, Entertainment and Cinema.
Speaking about the update Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer division said: “Life doesn’t stand still from month to month, so we don’t believe our customer’s TV should either.
“Our new range of TV packs bring together the best premium services, fully loaded with a wide range of award-winning shows, the best live sports in stunning 4K and the latest must-see films – all with the flexibility to change packs every month – with quick and easy search to find what you want to watch.
“So now with a click of a button you can take out the Big Sport package to catch the top Premier League fixtures one month and swap it for VIP for a rainy school holiday with the family the next.”
