Love Island’s Ovie Soko delights with his This Morning debut

Love Island’s Ovie Soko falls headfirst into a camera, storms the catwalk in a glittering waistcoat and flirts with Ruth Langsford as he sends fans WILD with This Morning debut

He won a legion of fans during his time in the Love Island villa.

And Ovie Soko continued to warm the hearts of the nation as he made his This Morning debut on Thursday for his first cooking segment.

The professional basketball player, 28, delighted hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes as he gamely took to the catwalk for the fashion segment, cooked up some eggs in the kitchen and accidentally walked headfirst into a camera during the show.

Ovie to you: Ovie Soko continued to warm the hearts of the nation as he made his This Morning debut on Thursday ahead of his first cooking segment

Ovie began the morning by discussing some of his villa highlights, including revealing why he used to store his hat collection in the freezer.

After making quite the entrance into the studio, being carried in by the world’s strongest woman Andrea Thompson, Ovie was quizzed on his trademark catchphrase.

Ovie would always shout ‘message’ in an American accent after his fellow Islanders declared ‘I’ve got a text’.

Discussing the origins of it, he explained: ‘It came from a movie that I watched when I was a bit younger [Don’t Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood]. It’s wild that it’s caught on.’

The star added that he was originally told not to say it all, confessing: ‘When I first said it a couple of the islanders were like “no, that’s not the thing, you’re not supposed to say that.”‘

As well as being beloved for his catchphrase, Ovie also sent fans wild with one iconic villa scene, which saw him nonchalantly retrieve his hat from the freezer whilst cooking breakfast.

Quizzed about the bizarre move, he casually relayed: ‘I mean, it just made sense. We’re in the heat, you need to keep your head protected, cool head, pop your hat in the freezer.

‘And it was just convenient – if you have hats all around the villa you never have to run back to the bedroom every time. There was always one within arms reach.’

Despite quickly becoming the nation’s most beloved Islander, Ovie insisted that he was never anything but himself, and gave advice to next year’s crop of contestants.

‘Be yourself’, he mused. ‘That’s probably my biggest advice. I didn’t have any angles going in.

‘I went in because of my big brother, he was like, “you’d be great on that show!” It’s a really good feeling but there’s definitely some confusion, I was just myself!’

Ovie’s mother Foluso echoed his sentiments as the camera cut to her proudly watching her son’s interview, as she reasoned: ‘I think Ovie was just Ovie.

‘When I see him do things, I say “that’s him”, I wont take the credit! I was just God’s grace upon his life.’

Quizzed on whether they’d said the L-word to one another, he confessed: ‘I cannot say love. Love is a thing that takes time to develop.

‘We’re in a good place, we’re just putting one foot in front of the other. We’ve spent quite a bit of time together.’

Ovie was on This Morning to front a cooking segment, after wowing his fellow Islanders with his culinary skills.

Ruth seemed in high spirits as she joined Ovie in the kitchen, teasing ‘What’s cookin’, good lookin”.

Ovie explained: ‘I cooked breakfast in the villa every day. I’ll wake up before everyone. Breakfast is very important, it sets the tone for the day. I don’t cook India eggs because she’s vegan.’

The mother-of-one then stole husband Eamonn’s plate as she quipped: ‘I never thought I’d be eating Ovie’s eggs!’

Finishing off his This Morning debut, Ovie changed into a glittering top hat and waistcoat to join Trinny Woodall in discussing the sequin trend during the fashion segment.

The reality star took to the catwalk and showed off his modelling skills, proving to be a picture of elegance and poise… before accidentally walking headfirst into one of the cameras.

Love Island Final 2019: Ovie and India take THIRD place

Love Island Final 2019: Ovie and India take THIRD place after the basketball player melted viewers’ hearts with his emotional speech and shouted ‘MESSAGE’ catchphrase one last time

He became a firm favourite with his natural charm, relaxed humour and chivalrous behaviour.

And, Ovie Soko, 28, and India Reynolds, 28 came in THIRD place in the Love Island final on Monday night, leaving Molly Mae and Tommy Fury, and Amber Gill and Greg O’shea to battle it out for the win, after the basketball player melted viewers’ hearts during his emotional speech.

The nation took to Twitter in their droves to praise his heartwarming words, which included him branding Amber his ‘little sister,’ and shouting ‘MESSAGE’ for the last time as he humbly voiced his fondness for partner.

THIRD PLACE: Ovie Soko, 28, and India Reynolds, 28, came in THIRD PLACE in the Love Island final after the basketball player melted viewers’ hearts with his emotional speech

The sports star and the former Page 3 model were stood together in front of their fellow islanders as they shared their feelings for one another, with a look-back on their journeys in the villas.

Ovie even recalled the nail colour India wore when they first met, even though he’d been on a date with former islander Harley at the time.

‘Ovie just makes my heart melt’ tweeted one viewer while listening to his speech, with another adding: ‘The DETAIL in Ovie’s speech.’

‘Ovie talking about amber..and him saying “MESSAGE” for the last time and talking about India’ wrote one fan of the show, alongside an emotional GIF.

Praise: The nation took to Twitter in their droves to praise his heartwarming words, which included shouting ‘MESSAGE’ for the last time as he humbly voiced his fondness for partner

Adorable: Ovie branded Amber his ‘little sister’ during his speech to India

Romantic: The basketball player and the former Page 3 model were stood together in front of their fellow islanders as they shared their feelings for one another

‘Ovie: *mentions Amber and “MESSAGE” in his speech* The UK’ tweeted someone else, with another heart-warming GIF.

‘Also gonna need a montage of Ovie always mentioning Amber before India’ wrote one viewer.

‘when he calls amber his little sister’ tweeted another fan, with someone else adding: ‘OVIE CALLING AMBER HIS LITTLE SISTER.’

One overwhelmed viewer gushed: ‘Ovie loves Amber so much like in whatever capacity it is pure adoration.’

‘Ovie calling amber his little sister in his speech love how he included her in it as well as India they’re so precious,’ wrote another Love Island fan.

Fan-reaction: Twitter went into meltdown over Ovie’s sensational speech

All in the details: Viewers were overwhelmed by Ovie remembering India’s nail colour

And while the nation tweeted their praise for Ovie, others were quick to point out that India’s belief that she and the basketballer were kept in by the public was slightly skewed.

‘When India thinks she’s there cos the public likes her, no babe we like ovie,’ clarified one person on Twitter.

‘Message! For India. No India, the public kept Ovie in and you just happened to be coupled with him,’ said someone else.

‘India: “We were kept here by the public” No we kept Ovie,’ added another, with someone else agreeing: ‘no offence India, the public voted for ovie hun x.’

The last time: Viewers couldn’t handle Ovie shouting out ‘MESSAGE’ during his final speech

The final four couples were Amber & Greg, India & Ovie, Molly-Mae & Tommy and Curtis & Maura.

During the Love Island 2019 Summer Ball, as the final four couples raised their glasses, Ovie gushed: ‘All of you ladies look absolutely amazing.

‘I’ve got to be a bit biased and say ‘India, you look phenomenal’ I feel like all of us guys are really lucky guys. To the final, guys!’

During Ovie’s turn to tell India how he feels, the basketball star explained: ‘Since you took me on that first breakfast date, the good energy hasn’t stopped since.

Keeping it real: Love Island fans were quick to note that it was Ovie who they’d voted to keep on the show, and not India

‘You’ve cheered me up and made me smile and you’ve even had Mr Cool feeling nervous.

‘If there was one thing I could change, it would have been that you would have come sooner…’

Following Ovie’s heartfelt speech, India said: ‘Firstly, I want to thank you for making my time in the villa so amazing. I think we can all see that you were carved by angels.

‘I couldn’t have prepared myself for what comes with it. You are so kind, caring and considerate. You’ve proven to me that chivalry isn’t dead…’

THE KING! India admitted to Ovie that he’d taught her that chivalry is not dead

LOVE ISLAND FINALISTS 2019: THE COUPLES AND THEIR ROAD TO ROMANCE

Island sweethearts: Amber battled through a doomed dalliance with Michael to find solace in the arms of Greg

AMBER GILL & GREG O SHEA

The path to happiness was a rocky one for Amber, who is the only Islander to have remained in the villa from the start.

She was initially paired with Callum – who was the first boy to be dumped from the series just five days in. This led to a platonic coupling with Anton.

Michael – a fellow original – then told Amber he had feelings for her and they coupled up. But when Amber was whisked away to Casa Amor, Michael’s head was turned by Joanna. When Amber returned to the main villa, Michael had re-coupled. Amber was left single once again. She told Michael she still liked him, but he rejected her advances.

Later, in a shock dumping, Joanna was sent home alone, leaving Michael single again – and conveniently interested in Amber once more. It was at this point Greg was sent in.

Amber enjoyed a date with the rugby pro and was tasked with choosing between him and Michael, ultimately choosing Greg. Michael ended up being voted out.

Since this, Greg and Amber have become close. They survived the final dumping and odds then plummeted on them scooping the prize.

INDIA REYNOLDS & OVIE SOKO

Both India and Ovie were late arrivals to the villa.

Ovie came first, appearing in Casa Amor and turning Anna’s head, who had left Jordan behind in the main villa.

Anna was wooed by Ovie and she decided to re-couple with him. They returned to the main villa together which left Jordan single as a result.

Fans immediately took a liking to Ovie, but felt sorry for Jordan at the same time, who was sure to let Anna know he wanted her back.

This worked; Anna ended up re-coupling with Jordan again – only for him later to ask her to be his girlfriend but then change his mind a day later. They were booted form the series, having broken up, last week.

India had arrived in the meantime and been sent on a date with Chris, but it was Ovie she had her eye on. Ovie, who had by this time found himself in a platonic coupling with Amber, began to like India as well, and the two ended up as a final coupling, sailing through to the final.

But fans called for Ovie to win on his own, as it’s been suggested that India’s short time in the villa hasn’t allowed viewers the chance to warm to her.

Solo effort? Fans have said Ovie should win on his own

Too obvious? Tommy and Molly-Mae are considered the favourites

MOLLY-MAE HAGUE & TOMMY FURY

Boxer Tommy and ‘influencer’ Molly-Mae were widely considered to be the favourtites to scoop the £50k prize.

They have been coupled up the longest of all the final couples and have mostly been exclusive to one another while in the villa. They are also the only boyfriend/girlfriend pairing and have said ‘I love you’ to each other.

But their romance has not been without it’s issues.

Tommy was initially interested in former-Islander Lucie, and was trying to sway her away from previous contestant Joe. Lucie’s head nearly turned but ultimately she went for Joe.

Molly-Mae then entered the villa and picked Tommy for a Jacuzzi date. He instantly took a liking to her and they coupled up.

Molly-Mae, however, had her doubts about the hunk. But Maura then entered the villa with her sights on Tommy, which made Molly-Mae realise she liked him after all.

Despite some casual flirting with Maura, Tommy chose Molly-Mae. They have been coupled up ever since, with Lucie seen pining for Tommy on the sidelines before she too was dumped from the show.

MAURA HIGGINS & CURTIS PRITCHARD

Curtis arrived a day after everyone else, alongside Tommy, and caught the eye of Amy. The pair coupled up and were the most solid couple of the show for the first half of the series, branding each other ‘half-boyfriend and half-girlfriend’.

But a spanner was thrown into the works when the girls left for Casa Amor. While Amy waited for Curtis, his interest was piqued by newcomer Jourdan, despite her showing no romantic interest in him.

Jourdan paired up with Danny. Curtis remained coupled up with Amy, who returned to the villa to tell him she loved him. This, however, was ruined when Curtis broke up with her, causing her to go home, devastated.

At this point, Maura – who had previously been interested in Tommy, Tom and Marvin – decided she would go after the ballroom pro.

The pair then coupled up and have been together since, despite suffering occasional tiffs and fans not being convinced it’s genuine. Even Maura’s mother seemed unimpressed by Curtis when she visited the villa in the ‘meet the family’ episode on Sunday night.

Fake? Viewers – and Curtis and Maura’s own parents – don’t seem convinced by this coupling

Megan Barton Hanson revealed her plans to slide into Ovie Soko’s DMs if he leaves the villa single as she admitted she’s got her eye on him.

Basketball star Ovie, who is romancing model India Reynolds in the villa, has the attention of Megan — and the rest of the UK — by being a true gentleman.

The former Love Island star, 25, confessed she has a huge crush on the 6ft 7in hunk, 28, as she joked she starred on the ‘wrong’ year of the ITV2 summer show.

‘I was in the wrong year’: Megan Barton-Hanson revealed she will slide into Love Island star Ovie Soko’s DMs as she confessed to having a major crush on the basketball star

She said in an interview with Heat magazine: ‘I was messaging all my friends like a school girl saying, “Oh my god, I was in the wrong year! I need that 6ft 7in piece of a**!” I’d be up for a date with him when he gets out.’

Among a host of gaslighting and heartbreaking behaviour, Ovie stands out as a king in the Love Island villa.

Fans have fallen for Ovie because of his kindness to his BFF Amber Gill when Michael Griffiths broke her heart.

He’s wonderful: Basketball star Ovie (pictured), who is romancing model India Reynolds in the villa, has the attention of Megan — and the rest of the UK — by being a true gentleman

Viewers were struck by his coolness when he lost Anna Vakili to Jordan Hames and when he broke down in tears after his pal George Rains was voted off.

Admirers were also impressed when he extracted his partner India away from the argument so she wasn’t involved in the row without saying a single word.

Followers even love his quirks which has seen him keep his hats in the freezer to keep his head cool, drinking red wine out of a straw and yelling ‘MESSAGE’ when someone gets a text.

Megan has been officially single since she split from her Love Island co-star Wes Nelson after a very public spat ended led to their split in January.

The former stripper and the engineer had a number of explosive rows over claims he cheated on her with his Dancing On Ice partner Vanessa Bauer.

Megan admitted she and Wes no longer speak and she has no plans to maintain a friendship with her ex.

Loves his life: Followers even love his quirks which has seen him keep his hats in the freezer to keep his head cool, drinking red wine out of a straw and yelling ‘MESSAGE’ when someone gets a text

She added: ‘We don’t speak, whatsoever. I don’t want a friendship with him. There is definitely nothing to talk about. I have moved on. I’m in a really happy place and I’m just surrounding with positive, truthful, honest people.’

Megan’s claims come amid claims she has been ‘romancing’ TOWIE’s Demi Sims after the pair met on Celebs Go Dating.

A source told The Sun Online: ‘Megan and Demi met on the show and have been dating ever since.

‘It’s really serious. They like each other a lot and it’s the real deal. Of course it’s not the ideal scenario for the Celebs Go Dating bosses as the celebrities aren’t meant to date each other, but it’s happened and they’re not hiding it.’

Ovie teaches Michael how not to be ‘childish’

Love Island viewers praise ‘mature’ Ovie for teaching Michael how not to be ‘childish’ after he ordered ex Amber to ‘sit down’ amid their ongoing feud

Love Island viewers have praised Ovie for setting Michael straight after he upset his pal Amber by ordering her to ‘sit down’ during an intense chat the day before.

During Tuesday’s episode of the hit ITV2 show, Ovie, 28, took Michael aside to question whether he thought his attitude towards Amber was acceptable.

The conversation was sparked after Amber, 21, confided in Ovie that she was gutted none of the girls had stuck up for her following her spat with the firefighter, 28.

He’s the man! Love Island viewers have praised Ovie for setting Michael straight after he upset his pal Amber by ordering her to ‘sit down’ during an intense chat the day before

Ensuring that his current couple Amber knew he had her back, Ovie asked Michael what he thought of his ‘approach’ towards his former flame Amber.

He said: ‘These last couple of days your emotions are obviously on edge I feel like it’s normal but what do you think about your approach to it all?’

However Michael appeared to insist that his heart was in the right place and only told Amber to ‘sit’ because he didn’t want her to walk any further in heels.

What were you thinking? During Tuesday’s episode of the hit ITV2 show, Ovie, 28, took Michael aside to question whether he thought his attitude towards Amber was acceptable

He said: ‘I didn’t want Amber to move anywhere because her feet were in heels so I thought I’ll catch her by the bean bags before she moves anywhere else and has to walk around before I speak to her so I was just like, “Can you sit down a minute?”.

Seeing through the excuse, Ovie replied: ‘But can you honestly say just man to man that the way you’re speaking to me now was the exact same way you spoke to her yesterday?’

‘That whole situation is frustrating for you but then also you have to think about it from a standpoint of one…

He’s got your back! After watching the two men hash it out, fans took to Twitter to praise the way Ovie tackled the situation with ‘maturity’ as he taught Michael how not to be ‘childish’

‘You told her to sit down and spoke to her yesterday if that had been your mum or your sister and you were standing right there would you have just let that conversation run? Honestly?’

Following Ovie’s wise words, Michael assured him he would apologise to Amber and said: ‘I’ve not wanted to be a d**k about it.’

After watching the two men hash it out, fans took to Twitter to praise the way Ovie tackled the situation with ‘maturity’ as he taught Michael how not to be ‘childish’.

True friend: Ovie was sure to stick up for his girl Amber during the conversation

Finally! Following Ovie’s wise words, Michael assured him he would apologise to Amber and said: ‘I’ve not wanted to be a d**k about it’

One fan wrote: ‘Ovie talking some common sense into Michael what I was waiting to see. Some wise words from the real man. Michael, you better listen up and drop the defensive childish behaviour. #LoveIsland.’

Another said: ‘Ovie gave Michael a last bit of dignity by making him look and understand how he spoke and been treating Amber. As Michael clearly didn’t see any wrong.’

Later in the show, Amber was left in tears as she and Michael tried to clear the air following their tense conversation the previous evening.

Heartbreaking: Later in the show, Amber was left in tears as she and Michael tried to clear the air following their tense conversation the previous evening

Amber told Michael: ‘I just think you really need to think about the way you speak to me, because it comes across really badly’

Amber told Michael: ‘I just think you really need to think about the way you speak to me, because it comes across really badly.

‘I knew you before and you never spoke to me in a way that made me feel upset.’

Michael said: ‘I don’t actually want to hurt you and I never have. Right now, it seems that I take all of my frustration out on you.’

Breaking down in tears, Amber added: ‘Every time you speak to me, you make us feel like a piece of s**t.’

Breaking down in tears, Amber added: ‘Every time you speak to me, you make us feel like a piece of s**t’

And while it seemed Michael was about to walk out of the lounge and leave Amber sobbing, in reality he was just grabbing a box of tissues.

Eventually the pair seemed to reach a common ground, and somewhat ended the chat on amicable.

When it was revealed Amber was going a date with Greg, he seemed indifferent to the news as he told her to ‘have a good time’ while eating cereal.

Love Island continues on Wednesday at 9pm on ITV.

Big Brother Just Introduced a Major New Twist

CBS

Twist time!

Big Brother just introduced a major, game-changing twist that mirrors another recent CBS reality show that wasn’t exactly the most popular.

Survivor‘s most recent season, Edge of Extinction, allowed eliminated contestants to live in squalor on a separate beach with even fewer comforts than regular Survivor contestants, and then after a few eliminated castaways had accumulated, they were given their chance to fight their way back into the game.

Now, Big Brother is doing the same with “Camp Comeback!” Tonight, the first houseguest was actually eliminated by voting (after David was eliminated because he failed to find his way back into the house), but Ovie will not be leaving the house. In fact, David joined him back in the house, and together, they’ll be moving into Camp Comeback, a much less comfortable cabin inside the Big Brother house.

They can’t participate in challenges or actually play the official game in any way, but they can still play the social game, and when there are four houseguests in Camp Comeback, they’ll get the chance to fight their way back in.

This twist on Survivor was not all that popular, and only ended up “working,” depending on how you feel about it, because the winner of the season had fought his way back into the game and then played spectacularly over the last three days of the competition.

It will be incredibly fascinating to see if the same thing can happen on Big Brother, or if it will be just as frustrating as it was on Survivor. We will have to wait to find out when Big Brother returns on Sunday!

Big Brother airs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
