The Red Devils were 2-1 winners as the Serb followed James McClean in controversially refusing to have the remembrance symbol embroidered into his Red Devils shirt.
Why is Nemanja Matic not wearing a poppy?
No reason has been given for Matic not wearing a poppy and the midfielder did not make any announcement before the game suggesting he would refuse to wear one.
The Serb had worn a poppy in all previous seasons.
But one plausible explanation is that the Man Utd midfielder refused to wear the emblem as a result of Britain's involvement in the war in his home country in the 1990s.
The UK was part of Nato's bombing campaign against Serbia in 1999 when its Albanian-majority province of Kosovo fought the then-Yugoslavian army for independence.
After the defeat of the Serbs, Kosovo declared independence in 2008 and is now recognised by over 100 countries, including Britain and the United States.
But Serbia, Russia, China and five EU members including Spain refuse to recognise Kosovo's independence.
Do players have to wear the poppy before Remembrance Day?
Wearing the poppy is a matter of choice and players are not punished for refusing to wear them.
But most players opt to wear the poppy on their shirts, which is why James McClean's refusal previously caused such controversy.
