IT'S time to vote for June's Stobart Jockey Of The Month!
Frankie Dettori, Hayley Turner and Daniel Tudhope are the final three and hoping to win your vote to secure them the prize.
Hayley Turner entered the history books in June, becoming the first female jockey in 32 years to win at Royal Ascot.
Her victory aboard Thanks Be in The Sandringham was the first win at the prestigious five-day festival since Gay Kelleway’s triumph with Sprowston Boy in the Queen Alexandra Stakes back in 1987.
Turner said: “It was a special moment. It felt like a normal race at the time and it wasn’t until I crossed the line that I realised what a special achievement it was. Whether your male or female, winning at Royal Ascot is what dreams are made of – it was an incredible atmosphere.”
On being nominated for June’s Jockey of the Month, Turner added: “It’s fantastic to be nominated and it would be unbelievable to win the vote, Frankie and Daniel are two amazing jockeys so I have no chance, but if I was to win that would be unbelievable.”
Dettori is no stranger to this nomination and produced another memorable performance at Royal Ascot, with seven victories across the five-days, which resulted in him being named top jockey at Royal Ascot for the first time since 2004.
The 48-year-old stole the show on day three with a fantastic four wins in the opening four races – including a second successive Gold Cup triumph with Stradivarius.
Discussing the Jockey of the Month nomination, Dettori said: “It’s fantastic to be nominated for Jockey of the Month once again – June was somewhat of a quiet month for me until we got to Royal Ascot and then from then on, I couldn’t of wished for it to go any better!
“I love everything about Royal Ascot and there’s no better feeling than winning the big races there. To win four in a row was something I never expected and a massive achievement, but I was still gutted not to win the fifth!
“To finish top jockey at Royal Ascot was a superb feeling and to be named Jockey of the Month would definitely top it off.”
It wasn't just Dettori who stole the show at Ascot as Daniel Tudhope notched up four wins at the Royal meeting thanks to Lord Glitters, Addeybb, Move Swiftly and Space Traveller.
Discussing the month, Tudhope said: “It has been an amazing month for me. Starting off with my 1,000th career win at Thirsk which is my local track and it being for David O’Meara, who has shown me so much support throughout my career, was a special moment.
“Then to have four winners at Royal Ascot was beyond belief – I also had some close places as well so it was a great few days for me and I wouldn’t have done it without all the support.
“It’s great to be recognised and to be named Jockey of the Month would be the icing on the cake of what has been a fantastic month for me.”
