What Triple H injury means for WWE’s WrestleMania plans

Triple H will undergo surgery after sustaining an injury at WWE Crown Jewel.

The Game was part of the main event at the controversial show in Saudi Arabia, as he teamed up once more with Shawn Michaels – making his in-ring return after more than eight years outside of the squared circle.

The duo reunited as D-Generation X to take on the Brothers of Destruction, Kane and The Undertaker.

DX scored the win, thanks to a Triple H pedigree on Kane – following a super-kick from Michaels.

But Triple H was noticeably labouring towards the end of the event and WWE have confirmed that he has suffered a torn pectoral muscle.

A statement declared: "During the epic showdown between D-Generation X and The Brothers of Destruction at WWE Crown Jewel, Triple H sustained what appears to be a torn pectoral muscle, WWE.com has learned.

"As a result, The Game plans to return to the United States this week to undergo surgical repair. “

His immediate return to the States and potential rehab is bad news for the company, who were planning on building towards his WrestleMania encounter with Batista in the near future.

Depending on the severity of the issue, that encounter between the Evolution members could now be in doubt.

Batista recently returned at SmackDown 1000 alongside Triple H, Randy Orton and Ric Flair, as Evolution hit the ring for the first time as a foursome in over a decade.

And Batista made clear who he fancies returning to action against, honouring the King Of Kings and then taking a somewhat surprising jab.

“This man has single-handedly changed this business. He runs this business. This man is this business!

"14-time World Champion. There is nothing, nothing that this man hasn’t done in this business.

"Except beat me.”

Their meeting had been pencilled in for the Showcase of the Immortals.

But now that epic encounter at MetLife Stadium next April could be in jeopardy.
