Javier Gracia’s side snatched a late point at St Mary’s on Saturday and after the final whistle blew the players went to thank the travelling fans for their support.
It is customary for players to donate kit to fans as a memento of the day and the 35-year-old headed straight for eight-year-old Jack to hand him his gloves that had made a string of important saves.
And when Jack got home from his first Hornets away day, he sent the Watford keeper a special thank you message.
He said: “Thank you so much Ben, thank you so much, this is the best day of my life.”
Foster replied to Jack through Watford’s twitter account.
The keeper said: “Hi Jack, glad you got the gloves mate, I think you brought us that little bit of luck to get the goal in the end.
“Hope you had a great day and enjoyed your first away game, cheers mate.”
West Brom fan Lizzie Hayward replied on twitter posting a picture of the shirt Foster gave her when the Baggies beat Crystal Palace two years ago.
She said: “Loved it when he gave me his shirt a couple of seasons back when we beat Palace 1-0 opening day of the season – Swear he thought I was a child, mind!”
The draw at Southampton saw Watford stay seventh in the Premier League and Gracia’s side face Liverpool at home after the international break.
