Eric Dier’s early strike fired Tottenham up to third in the table and equalling their best-ever start to a Premier League season.
But Bluebirds boss Warnock vented his anger at Spurs striker, clearly blaming him for Joe Ralls’ 58th minute sending off.
Ralls was shown a straight red by ref Mike Dean for crudely hacking down Lucas Moura as the Brazilian seemed set to skin him down the wing.
Kane was so incensed he sprinted 30 yards and grappled the Bluebirds’ midfielder.
When Dean produced the red card, TV pictures showed Warnock standing in his technical area sarcastically applauding the England captain and shouting: “F**king well done, Harry.”
Remarkably the visitors, still searching for their first Prem win of the season, nearly snatched a point when skipper Sean Morrison’s header was pushed on to the post by Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris.
The winning goal came in the eighth minute when Davinson Sanchez’s header from Kieran Trippier’s cross was blocked by Cardiff defender Joe Bennett, who failed to react quick enough to clear the ball allowing Dier to smash home from close range.
Sanchez and Moura went close to adding a second for the hosts, who had a let off when their defender Toby Alderweireld brilliantly cleared Josh Murphy’s shot off the line with Junior Hoilett about to pounce.
Victory leaves Tottenham with 18 points from eight games – their joint-best start to a Prem campaign, but the match was played in front of a crowd of just 43,268.
