Tiger Woods has a chance to win his third career FedEx Cup and claim a $10 million prize this weekend if he wins the season-ending Tour Championship and gets a little help from his competitors – and Woods is in a great position after one round.
In his first competitive round at East Lake Golf Club since 2013, Woods posted a 5-under round of 65 to enter the clubhouse with a share of the lead with Rickie Fowler.
Woods’ only major mistake all day came on the very first hole. His approach to the green at the 469-yard par-4 left Woods 24 feet from the hole, but he three-putted for bogey. Woods dropped to even-par with a lengthy birdie putt at the fifth.
