Hole 3 — par 3
Another solid shot from Woods, who hit his mark again on this 208-yard par-3. He will have about 18 feet for birdie. His putt, which starts downhill and will move left to right in the beginning, sails past, leaving 3 feet for par. Hole 2 — par 5
Woods' drive, with the big lumber, gets a fortuitous bounce from the right edge, almost in the rough, to the center of the fairway with some excellent roll … 30-40 yards. Woods' approach with an 8-iron lands in the center of the green, giving him a decent look at eagle. His eagle putt comes up just short, but it's a tap-in birdie. 1 under through 2 (8 under of the tournament).
Meanwhile: Phil Mickelson has made eight birdies and is at 9 under overall through 13 holes.
Hole 1 — par 4
The day began well for Woods, a low, line drive 3-iron off the tee on this 365-yard par-4 to the center of the fairway. The second shot, with a pitching wedge, finds the center of the green but just a few feet short of his target, leaving 27 feet for birdie. The birdie putt was just off line leaving a tap-in for par.
