Spartak Moscow post controversial ‘naked’ picture of injured female star

HC Spartak Moscow have been accused of sexism after posting a controversial picture of Yulia Ushakova wearing just her underwear, as part of an injury announcement.

HC Spartak used the image to break news of her ankle sprain earlier this week.

And it has subsequently provoked anger on social media from a number of accounts, who have taken exception to the snap of the former bodybuilding champion, who also works for the club’s TV channel.

They also posted a follow up snap a couple of days later, explaining that the condition of her ankle had improved.

The 28-year-old herself had initially posted the images on her own Instagram account however, as she attempted to make light of what she had described as a bad start to her week.

"I twisted my ankle, two broken nails. My wrist will be corrected, and when I go for the manicure, the problem will be solved. I started the week badly.

"I will solve the ‘women’s problems’ in terms of the degree of significance, first I’ll remove the wrinkles, then to the manicure. And the ankle itself will pass.

"Let’s see how cosmetics works @celltense_russia. To all, a cool and positive start of the week!"

Ushakova has since recovered from her injury and was back in the gym on Friday.

"The ankle has recovered, everything in order,’ Ushakova said.

"Start working with the group and prepare the next matches at home."
