Something incredible happened last time United lost two of opening three games

Manchester United may be off to a disastrous Premier League start – but there is one crumb of comfort for Jose Mourinho’s men

The last time United lost two out of their first three league games was all the way back in 1992-1993.

Despite the inauspicious start, that season heralded the beginning of the club’s incredible run of success during the 1990s, taking eight out of the next eleven Premier League titles.

United notched an incredible 92 points and ended a 26-year league championship drought during the campaign.

In 1992, Manchester United lost their first game 2-1 to Sheffield United and notably lost their following home opener to Everton 3-0.

Fans of the Red Devils will also fondly remember that year as Eric Cantona’s first season, who netted an impressive 15 goals on the way to the title.

Manchester United suffered another humiliating loss tonight after Tottenham condemned Jose Mourinho to his biggest ever home defeat as a manager.

United unravelled in the second half as Harry Kane’s header was complemented by Lucas Moura’s brace as Tottenham ran out 3-0 victors.
