Former Wigan defender Andreas Granqvist has confirmed Manchester United are interested in signing him.
Granqvist, 33, impressed at the World Cup with Sweden as they reached the quarter-finals before losing to England.
Jose Mourinho wanted defensive reinforcements in the summer but failed to land any targets – although it is unclear if Granqvist was on his transfer wishlist.
But the veteran defender, who now plays for Helsingborgs in his homeland, has claimed he is being lined up by United boss Mourinho.
"There is indeed interest. I am honoured that I am linked with such a big club," Granqvist told Expressen.
"If there is a concrete offer in January, then both the club and I will accept that, but that is currently not the case."
United are understood to have considered taking Granqvist on loan until the end of the season.

But Mourinho is considering long-term defensive options with Serie A duo Milan Skriniar and Alessio Romagnoli on his radar.
Both players could play for United in the knock-out stages of the Champions League, should they get there, following the competition’s recent rule changes.
