Shock decision made over James Rodriguez’s future

Premier League clubs have been put on red alert with Bayern Munich not likely to sign James Rodriguez.

The Colombian is currently in the second season of a two-year loan with Bayern from Real Madrid.

There has been talk that he would sign permanently but Kicker reports Bayern are now unlikely to try and agree a deal.

And even if they do activate the £38m release clause at Real, it will only be to sell him for a higher price.

The Colombian’s future will reportedly depend on whether he can patch things up with boss Niko Kovac and how Bayern’s season progresses after a poor start.

Rodriguez recently picked up a knee injury that could see him miss the remainder of the calendar year but he had been struggling to make the starting line-up recently.

Rodriguez has been linked with a move to Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus among others in recent times.

Bayern have secured the singing of France’s World Cup winning full-back Benjamin Pavard from Stuttgart for £31m for next season.

They are reportedly also considering signing Eintracht Frankfurt forward Luka Jovic, 20, in the summer.

Bayern Munich currently sit in fifth place in the Bundesliga with 20 points after 11 matches played.
