Saturday's horse racing tips: Templegate's NAP and best bets for the live ITV racing at Newbury and Ayr

AYR

1.55

ADDEYBB can give weight away all round. He only has so much lead in the saddle because he keeps winning Group 1 contests and he went close to making it a hat-trick at that level when second in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He’s been off since then but goes well fresh and this trip is right up his street.

Fox Chairman has been a little below his best this season but wasn’t beaten far in testing conditions at Windsor last month. This better ground should help his chances.

Lord Glitters is another classy performer who didn’t get the run of the race when third in the Group 3 Strensall Stakes at York. He doesn’t win as often as his talent allows but he shapes as though this step up in distance will help.

San Donato has been poor on his past two starts and clearly hated dropping back to seven furlongs at York latest. He has done most of his racing over a mile and he needs this longer distance to bring a fair amount of improvement.

Euchen Glen did really well to win the Old Borough Cup at Haydock latest but, while he has winning form over this trip, he should find things happening a bit quickly.

2.30

ATALANTA’S BOY made up for fluffing the start in the Stewards’ Cup by scorching home to win a hot handicap back at Goodwood last month. He was always in control there and finished the race well despite showing real speed. David Menusier’s flyer has every chance of defying a 5lb penalty.

Rathbone went close in good company at Ascot when dropped to this trip latest. He’s off the same mark and should be competitive again.

Kings Lynn was beaten at odds-on last time but the winner franked the form in a Listed race and the Queen’s runner could be off a lenient mark for his handicap debut.

Admiralty has been knocking on the door and could place again dropping in distance.

Bernardo O’Reilly had a bit up his sleeve when scoring at Doncaster and is another threat if repeating that in these likely softer conditions.

Aberama Gold likes it here and his stall one draw could prove handy. He wasn’t beaten far at York last time and looks fairly handicapped.

Musicka often runs well in races like this and didn’t get the best of runs at Chester last time.

He is another with each-way claims along with Magical Spirit who was a little unlucky at Haydock two Saturdays ago.

3.05

UMM KULTHUM looked a nice prospect when winning her maiden at Thirsk and confirmed that with a cracking third in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York last time. That effort was all the better because she was like Bambi on ice in the early stages, missing the kick and looking very green. She picked up well and stayed on nicely late on. Richard Fahey’s filly is sure to progress and has a handy low draw here.

Illykato looks a danger after a good third at Salisbury earlier this month. Her effort was pretty green too as she wandered about in the closing stages. Hopefully she will have learned from that and has every chance if staying in a straight line.

Scarlet Bear was a place behind her and is another open to plenty of improvement from what could be an ideal draw.

Lullaby Moon bounced back from a poor Newbury Super Sprint run to win easily at Goodwood. She goes back up in grade here but has much more to offer despite a modest draw, with this trip looking ideal.

Mamba Wamba has been busy and comes here off two excellent runs at York, including a win last time. She should have no issues with this step up in trip.

She’s So Nice is another who ran well in the Lowther on the Knavesmire and has every chance of hitting the frame.

3.40

MR LUPTON ran an absolute cracker to win a hot Curragh handicap just six days ago over this trip. That was his second good run in a row after going close at Ripon. He’s got a strong record when turned out quickly and most of his wins have come in a big field. This is clearly a tough race but he’s got every chance with his rider’s claim accounting for the 5lb penalty.

Stone Of Destiny was impressive in winning the Portland Handicap at Donny last week and should be right there again from what still looks a handy mark.

Soldier’s Minute never got going in that race and goes back over his best distance. He could bounce back and hit the frame.

Nahaarr was hot favourite for the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood when finishing ninth. He landed a speedy win at Newbury before that but need a little more from 6lb higher.

Staxton is in cracking form with back-to-back wins at Ripon. He has a penalty for the most recent but he did it with plenty in hand and relishes this distance.

Bielsa and Spanish City are both capable of winning races like this with the latter off the same mark as a close-up fifth at Ascot last time.

Young Fire could be the pick of the big prices after a convincing success at Haydock earlier this month.

NEWBURY

1.40

EQUILATERAL has his sights lowered after a fair sixth in the Group 1 Flying Five Stakes at The Curragh last time. He put in his best performance of the season over this trip when second to Battaash in the King’s Stand at Royal Ascot and he’ll be hard to beat if Hollie Doyle can conjure up that form.

Wise Words was unlucky in a Doncaster Listed race last week when meeting all kinds of trouble in running. He is best over this distance and should be thereabouts.

Tis Marvellous landed a deserved success at Leicester and can be competitive despite a fair hike in class.

Lazuli has failed to match the form of June’s Sandown Listed win a couple of times including at Listed level in France.

Moss Gill put in a rare poor effort on Town Moor after running well when third in the Nunthorpe. A return to that level would make him a contender.

Tinto is a big price and hasn’t been at his best lately. But he did close a good time when third at Sandown in July and the first-time blinkers could wake him up.

Ornate didn’t get going at York latest but was close in the King George at Goodwood so could outrun his odds.

2.15

TENBURY WELLS is improving fast and was just chinned right on the line at Sandown last time. That good effort built on his win at Ascot where he showed good heart to strike on his handicap debut. He stays this trip well, looks on a fair mark, and has lots more to come at this early stage of his career.

Maydanny was too bad to be true at York last time when tailed off in the tacky ground. He earlier hammered his rivals to land a hot race at Glorious Goodwood and could well bounce back, especially if the ground quickens up.

Kingbrook came back from a year off to chase home the tip last time and has solid place claims if building on that.

Good Birthday has been running well without winning and is now 5lb below his last success. He won’t be far away.

Starcat looked a real prospect when winning on debut and was seventh in the Guineas. He has run a couple of fair races since being upped to this distance including when fourth at Doncaster latest. The handicapper has dropped him 1lb which should make him competitive.

Ilaraab hasn’t had a lot to beat so far but landed the hat-trick in good style at Beverley and deserves this hike in grade.

2.50

EXTRA ELUSIVE made it two Group 3 wins on the trot when scoring with plenty in hand at Windsor three Saturdays ago. It was soft ground that day but he excelled in much quicker conditions when taking the Rose Of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock. He gets on very well with Hollie Doyle who stays on board and this slightly longer distance holds no fears.

Desert Encounter is looking for his third win in this race. His form this season has been a little below his best but he went close at Glorious Goodwood before managing to find trouble in a six-horse Listed contest at Windsor. He’s probably not quite the horse he was but will be competitive at a track he loves.

Elarqam has been below par this season and struggled at York last time in a race he won in 2019. That was his second flat effort in a row and he has a little to prove now. Saying that, he likes this trip and would win at his best.

Gifts Of Gold has plenty of decent handicap form on his CV including when winning by an easy six lengths at Chelmsford last time. This is his best distance and suits a lot better than the 1m6f he tackled in a Meydan Group 3 two starts ago. This is tougher than last time but he should run well.

3.25

RHYTHM MASTER did really well to finish third in a French Group 1 last time despite looking green when the stalls opened. He was already in plenty of notebooks after scorching home to win at Haydock on debut. This trip is ideal and he should have learned plenty from that experience at the top level.

Bahrain Pride looked really smart when taking a Listed contest at Ripon 19 days ago. He picked up strongly and wasn’t stopping at the line. There’s a lot more to come.

Alkumait had plenty in hand when striking at Goodwood for Marcus Tregoning last time. He had the race in his pocket from a long way out and can cope with this hike in grade.

Line Of Departure clocked a good time when winning a big sales race at Doncaster’s Leger meeting. That followed up his Ascot success well and another step forward would see him on the premises for in-form Roger Varian.

Devilwala was second in the Gimcrack on just his second run so should take a step forward and doesn’t need a lot more. Similar comments apply to Fivethousandtoone who was too good for his rivals at Newcastle latest.
