HEAVY rain in the build up to Royal Ascot has affected preparations on and off the track.
The going on Wednesday morning was described as Good to Soft, with further rain forecast for the remainder of the week up until Saturday.
The weather has affected trainers preparing their horses – with gallops work altered and plans left until the last minute with the ever changing conditions.
Off the track, punters are working out whether they need an umbrella or sun cream for the five day extravaganza.
And that's without the looming train strike…
Close to 70mm of rain has fallen over the past week and heavy showers are forecast to fall up until Saturday.
After that horrid spell, conditions are expected to brighten up with low pressure bringing warmer weather with a few possible showers spread throughout next week.
Fingers crossed it will be sun cream and not umbrellas.
