Romelu Lukaku set to start for Manchester United against Leicester tonight after returning to pre-season early following Jose Mourinho SOS

The Belgium striker played in the World Cup less than a month ago – but returned to pre-season training early to get ready for the campaign.

And Jose Mourinho has no concerns over Lukaku’s fitness levels as he looks to get off to a winning start in the Premier League and put transfer frustration behind him.

Lukaku lined up in training at Carrington this week preparing to lead the attack against Claude Puel’s men.

Out of the players who reached the latter stages in Russia, he looks most likely to feature at Old Trafford.

Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Phil Jones featured for England in the final weekend of the World Cup, with Ashley Young featuring in matches before the third-place play-off.

Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba also reached the semi-finals with their countries.

Mourinho, during pre-season, confirmed that Lukaku, Jones and Rashford cut short their holidays.

He said: “They're coming back three days early to try and be available for the team.”

The Manchester United boss added three new faces to his squad during the summer transfer window.

He signed Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk for £53.1m, Diogo Dalot from Porto for £19.8m and Lee Grant from Stoke for 1.5m.

United were continuously linked to England ace Harry Maguire, who is expected to feature for the Foxes tonight.
