The Chargers are adding a second kicker to their roster for their AFC divisional-round game against the Patriots. Nick Rose will be signed Thursday to handle kickoff duties Sunday at New England, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Before being cut by the Chargers in 2017, Rose finished with eight touchbacks in nine kickoffs. He has not been in the league since being let go by the Texans prior to the regular season.
Chargers kicker Michael Badgley has not shown the strongest leg on kickoffs, posting zero touchbacks on six kickoffs in Baltimore last weekend. He has had just nine touchbacks in 54 kickoffs this season. Badgley made 15 of 16 field goals in the regular season and five of six in the wild-card game against the Ravens last weekend.
