Ravens waive former first-round WR Breshad Perriman, per reports

The Baltimore Ravens are cutting their losses on Breshad Perriman.

The former first-round wide receiver was waived by the team Saturday ahead of the deadline to trim the roster to 53 players, according to multiple reports.

Perriman, 24, was the No. 26 overall pick of the 2015 NFL draft out of Central Florida. At 6-2 and 215 pounds, he sparked interest among teams for his tantalizing blend of size and speed, as well as his ability to win jump balls.

But Perriman was plagued by both injuries and drops in the last three years, recording just 43 passes for 576 yards in his run with the Ravens.

Baltimore showed it was no longer content to wait on Perriman and reconfigured its receiving corps this offseason, signing veterans Michael Crabtree, John Brown and Willie Snead before drafting Jaleel Scott (since placed on injured reserve) in the fourth round and Jordan Lasley in the fifth. The team also declined Perriman's fifth-year option in May.
