John Harbaugh will be the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens in 2019, the team announced Friday night.
The team also said that it is working on an extension with its longtime coach. Harbaugh's deal was set to expire after next season, the Ravens said.
The announcement seemingly ends months of speculation about Harbaugh's future with the team.
Harbaugh's status has hovered over the team starting in the offseason, when Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti's made comments in February that he considered firing Harbaugh after last season's heartbreaking playoff miss.
The uncertainty continued through to the middle of this season, where the Ravens stood at just 4-5 entering their bye week with Harbaugh facing questions about his job status.
