Paul Pogba to Lee Grant – Ed Woodward's £741million-worth of Man Utd signings rated and slated

ED WOODWARD is under increasing pressure at Manchester United, with club bosses weighing up his future.

The executive vice-chairman is under the microscope of the Glazers now – and faces a make-or-break summer in the transfer market.

Some mega-money flops in recent seasons have undermined Woodward's work, including the £52million buy of Fred last summer.

A then-world record £89m on Paul Pogba and other monster moves for the likes of Angel Di Maria and Romelu Lukaku haven't helped his case, either.

With that in mind, we take a look at his track record in the transfer market – judging them as a "hit" or a "miss".

Marouane Fellaini, £27.5m – MISS

DESPITE being at Old Trafford for six years and making over 100 Premier League appearances, Fellaini never really endeared himself to the United faithful.

The Belgian helped the club win the Europa League in 2016-17 and the 2015-16 FA Cup – but never brought his Everton form to Manchester.

Juan Mata, £37.1m – HIT

JOINED from Chelsea in 2014 and also helped in the limited post-Fergie success.

Will leave this summer as his contract expires and can do so with his head held high as one of the club's most consistent performers in recent years.

Ander Herrera, £28.8m – HIT

IN the same boat as Mata – one United's best players in the worst patch in the club's recent history AND on his way out this summer.

Herrera has got better and better as his time in England has gone on, but will likely join PSG this summer.

Luke Shaw, £33m – HIT

HAS battled injuries and criticism from his own bosses over his fitness – but is easily United's best full-back in recent years.

Likely to be a stalwart in the Red Devils line-up for years to come, still aged only 23, Shaw will be key to the imminent rebuild at Old Trafford.

Marcos Rojo, £16m – MISS

INJURIES, lack of form, questions marks over his best position and yet more injuries.

It's been a tough spell for Rojo in Manchester and he is likely to be given the boot this summer.

Angel Di Maria, £59.7m – MISS

SIGNED for nearly £60m in 2014 from Real Madrid, Di Maria was supposed to be the missing link.

Despite scoring a superb chip against Leicester, the Argentine lasted just one wildly disappointing season at the club.

Daley Blind, £14m – HIT

VERSATILE, committed and under-appreciated. Whether it was at left-back, centre-half or in the heart of midfield the Dutchman gave it everything.

Hardly given the credit he deserve, Solskjaer could have used the now-Ajax star in 2018-19.

Memphis Depay, £25m – MISS

INCREDIBLY talented but lacking the work-rate required in England, the flying Dutchman never got off the ground in Manchester.

Currently thriving at Lyon, Depay's form has only served to show United up for their poor man-management.

Matteo Darmian, £12.9m – MISS

SIGNED to bolster the full-back slots occupied by converted wingers Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia, Darmian has had a largely forgettable time at Old Trafford.

Set to be shipped off to Italy this summer after just 60 mostly sub-par Prem outings, the ex-Torino ace definitely goes down as a flop.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, £15m – MISS

A lEGEND of German football, both for Bayern Munich and the national team, Schweinsteiger was a marquee signing, for a cut-price £15m.

But the 121-cap international never made the grade in England, playing just 18 Premier League matches, before joining MLS side Chicago Fire after less than two years.

Morgan Schneiderlin, £24m – MISS

SUPPOSED to be the man to solve United's central midfield gap, the ex-Southampton star was another who failed to bring his top form to Old Trafford.

Schneiderlin left after just two years and 32 Premier League outings, before moving to Everton.

Anthony Martial, £44.5m – HIT

IT'S not been easy for the former Monaco star, but Martial has proven his has world-class potential.

United simply must build their team around the Frenchman in the coming years – or risk losing him and Martial coming little more than another expensive flop.

Eric Bailly, £30m – HIT

IF it wasn't for his injuries, Bailly would almost certainly be one of the top centre-backs in the Premier League.

Due to his persistent knocks, the Ivorian has seen his form suffer and place in the team in question. Should he stay fit, he can be considered a hit.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Free – HIT

WHAT more can you say about Zlatan – in one season, the Swedish star brought back a little fun to Old Trafford, scoring 17 times in 33 Prem games.

Helped United win the League Cup and Europa League and kept fans at the edge of their seats.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, £30m – MISS

BROUGHT in from Borussia Dortmund in an eagerly-anticipated swoop, Mkhitaryan was supposed to bring the X-factor to Old Trafford.

Instead, there were questions marks over his fitness as he struggled to make the cut – before being sent to Arsenal in return for Alexis Sanchez.

Paul Pogba, £89m – MISS

A THEN-world record move, the return of Pogba from Juventus was meant to fire United back to the glory days.

Instead, very public rows with management and spending more time on hairstyles and his social media presence than football, Pogba looks set to leave this summer.

On his day unbeatable, but how often has the World Cup winner dominated a big game for his club? Exactly.

Victor Lindelof, £31m – MISS

UNITED have struggled with their centre-backs for years now – and Lindelof was signed from Benfica as the man to finally solve the crisis.

Instead, the Swede has struggled for form, has made a string of blunders and looks set to go down as another big-money flop.

Romelu Lukaku, £75m – MISS

AFTER leading the line with distinction for Everton – and having arguably his best years ahead of him – United fans were excited about the signing of Lukaku.

Strong, quick and lethal in front of goal at his best, the Belgian has only been at his best in fits and spurts, lacking any real consistency.

Often left out of the team for the likes of Marcus Rashford, Martial and even youngster Mason Greenwood more recently.

Nemanja Matic, £40m – HIT

MUCH like during his days at Chelsea, Matic is Mr Dependable.

Comfortable on the ball and in charge of marshalling a shaky back-four, Matic is worth every penny.

Alexis Sanchez, Swap – MISS

EVEN freebies can be flops… but Sanchez wasn't really a freebie – costing the club £505,000-a-week.

Sanchez scored just one Premier League goal in 2018-19 and looks a shadow of his Arsenal and Barcelona self.

The symbol of United's flawed transfer policy is likely to leave United this summer – and will be lucky to remain in the Premier League.

Diogo Dalot, £19m – HIT

ONE for the future. That's what United wanted and that is what they've got.

Young and raw, Dalot is still improving and is almost certain to be the right-back of the future at Old Trafford.

And for just £19m, in this day and age, is an absolute pinch.

Fred, £52m – MISS

THIS one stings for United fans – once so excited about the prospect of signing the sought-after Brazilian.

However, a woeful run of form when he was given a game and his complete ineptitude in defence has seen Fred barely get a game.

Reports claim Shakhtar Donetsk would have accepted a much lower fee for their midfielder – leaving a bitter taste in United fans' mouths.

Lee Grant, £1.5m – HIT

A SHOCK signing from Stoke in 2018, the former England Under-21 stopper was something of a shrewd signing.

Despite playing just once, in the Carabao Cup – an 8-7 penalty-shootout loss to Derby – his experience and back-up can't be questioned. What more do you think you're getting for £1.5m?
