Fans were treated to an NBA Finals matchup in November.
It was billed as a potential Finals preview, and the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors delivered an overtime thriller worthy of the high stakes of June. Kevin Durant poured in a season-high 51 points for the Warriors, but Kawhi Leonard had 37 as the Raptors held on for a 131-128 home win Thursday night.
Durant scored 27 points in the second half as Golden State rallied from 17 points down to force the extra frame. He hit two straight 3-pointers in the final minute of regulation, including a tough fallaway from the corner over Leonard to tie the game at 119 with 8.6 seconds left.
However, Golden State got sloppy in overtime. The Warriors had five turnovers, including four in a span of five possessions in the final two minutes of the extra period.
"What a game," said Warriors coach Steve Kerr. "An incredible basketball game for the fans to watch. We came up just short."
