Mike Francesa enraged about being delayed by Yankees postgame show

Mike Francesa is not a man who likes to wait for anything, often pulling a quick trigger on fans making phony calls into his show. That was on full display Wednesday, but not with any particular caller. Instead, it was with WFAN’s ongoing Yankees postgame show.

“I was gonna mention what happened today at the trade deadline and what happened as we got up to it but I think all the players retired during the postgame. That’s how long the postgame was,” Francesa said. “I think rookies played their whole careers during that postgame. That was the longest postgame in the history – that was three times longer than the game!”

Since the Yankees played a day game (which featured a rain delay), Francesa couldn’t go on air until the postgame show finished. Francesa was scheduled to speak with Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen live on the show, but their crosstown rivals put an end to those plans.

“We had to tape Brodie because hey, he came and went folks, so you’ll hear that in a couple of minutes,” Francesa said. “We were able to put it on tape so you’ll hear Brodie in just a couple of minutes. He called in, obviously, during the postgame — he could’ve rebuilt the team during the postgame, that’s how long it was.”

Clearly, a little patience was too much to ask of the longtime radio host. If anybody out there was able to sit through the whole thing, Francesa has a prize waiting for you.

“Please, I’ll give you season tickets if you could’ve sat through that whole postgame,” Francesa said. “My God already. I’m sitting here for an hour and a half waiting for the postgame to be over. My God, the postgame can’t be that long. Please. Can we not have hour-and-a-half postgames? At least during the day. They gotta do something about it. Drives me nuts, God almighty. I understand they gotta get some commercials in but they’re overdoing it. Please.”
