Mesut Ozil vows to be ready for Arsenal 'no matter what' in defiant message to Unai Emery

The Gunners midfielder has not played since he was taken off at half-time in the 1-1 draw at Brighton on Boxing Day.

Yet he has kept up the barrage of social media positivity with another post that came after SunSport told you his mood swings are one of the reasons behind tensions with Arsenal boss Emery.

Ozil posted a photo of himself in the gym with the caption: "No matter what… put in the work."

Not everyone was convinced by Ozil's message though.

One fan commented underneath the photo: "The new contract has blown your mind mate. You have performed better in Fortnite than in our team."

Emery last month denied claims Ozil had suffered a back injury from hours upon hours spent playing the popular video game.

Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat to West Ham courtesy of Declan Rice's first goal for the club last weekend.

Ozil was again not part of the squad.

Emery insisted there were tactical reasons behind his call and did not mention personal animosity.

He said: "The players here are better for the match today."

Some reports have claimed Emery wants Ozil to leave this month in order to raise funds for transfers.

Ozil remains the club's highest-paid player on £350,000 per week.

But the Gunners are yet to receive any credible interest for the 92-cap former Germany international.

Ozil has scored just four goals and provided two assists in all competitions this season after 16 appearances.
