Sydney veteran and former skipper Jarrad McVeigh will play on with the club in 2019, resisting potential opportunities to end his career elsewhere.
The 33-year-old's new deal was announced on Thursday morning as he heads into his ninth successive finals series and prepares to play his 29th final for the Swans.
Jarrad McVeigh will play on in 2019.
McVeigh had been linked to a possible move to the Gold Coast Suns to support former Swans assistant Stuart Dew in an on-field leadership role, however the Swans were keen to retain him.
It will see McVeigh's career stretch into a 16th season since his debut in 2004 and should extend his games tally, which sits at 318, beyond Jude Bolton's mark of 325.
Only Adam Goodes, who played 372 games, has played more games for the Swans than Bolton and McVeigh.
McVeigh arrived at the club as pick No.5 in the 2002 national draft but missed on being part of the 2005 premiership team before playing in the losing 2006 team.
However, he fulfilled his premiership dream in 2012 as co-captain with Adam Goodes, holding up the cup with coach John Longmire, and he served as skipper from 2011 until 2016 before handing over the captaincy last season to Josh Kennedy.
McVeigh battled a calf problem in 2017 but apart from one setback he has been back to his best form this season across half-back and played in his 200th win two weeks ago when the Swans defeated the Giants.
The Swans have also re-signed sidelined ruckman Sam Naismith as they look to lock in key components of their list ahead of the upcoming trade period.
