JUAN MATA will not quit Manchester United for Liverpool or Manchester City, according to his father.
Mata is a free agent in the summer and is still deciding on taking up United’s offer of a new deal while considering other options.
The playmaker moved to Old Trafford in 2014 from Chelsea for £37million and has won the Europa League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
But he has only started 13 Premier League games this term and as he approaches his 31st birthday could well be looking for more first-team football.
Mata senior told Cadena SER: “Manchester United have offered to renew us, we are very happy.
“City? It would not be the ideal option.
“There are two options that do not (appeal), Liverpool and City.
“We have to respect the Manchester United fans, he is held very dear here.
“But there are proposals from Champions League teams.
“Spain, maybe, but today is not the day to talk, it is not yet decided.”
Mata will be part of the United squad going head-to-head with Barcelona tonight for a place in the Champions League semi-final.
The former Valencia man has been linked with a move to the Nou Camp next season but insists his only focus is on helping United get past the La Liga giants.
Mata told the Manchester Evening News: “I don’t think right now is a good moment to speak about it.

“Because I prefer to put the team before myself and what we are going to face now is important enough to be focused only on that.
“There have been some rumours about myself and other team-mates over the last week, so I’m not the one who is going to put more questions or raise more comments with what I say.
“So, I prefer to put the team before me and focus on the important task that we have ahead, which is Barcelona.”
