Manchester United have reportedly joined the race for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.
The Frenchman only joined the La Liga champions last summer in a £100million move for Borussia Dortmund.
But he struggled with injury at the Nou Camp and was unable to force his way into Ernesto Valderde’s side.
And according to Barcelona-based newspaper Mundo Deportivo , United want to rival Arsenal for his signature.
Gunners boss Unai Emery is particularly keen on the forward and Arsenal are prepared to pay a £10m loan fee to sign him for the forthcoming season.
They would then agree to pay a £90m transfer fee next summer to make the deal permament.
United boss Jose Mourinho wants to add to his squad before Thursday’s Premier League deadline and is considering Dembele as a replacement for Anthony Martial who is expected to depart Old Trafford.
Martial has been linked with moves to Chelsea and Tottenham while his fellow midfielder Paul Pogba has emerged as a target for Barcelona.
A separate report in Mundo Deportivo suggests Barcelona are willing to use Dembele in a swap deal for former Juventus star Pogba.
That comes after they reportedly failed with a bid of £45m plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes for the World Cup winner.
