The Manchester United No1 memorably let a Cristiano Ronaldo shot slip through his hands in Spain’s opening 3-3 draw with Portugal in the summer.
De Gea also received stick for failing to save a penalty in their last-16 shoot-out defeat to Russia.
But the keeper has been back to his best this season, pulling off a stunning stop to keep out Christian Kabasele’s late header and secure three points at Watford last Saturday.
And De Gea, 27, said: “Normally I never listen to the people who speak about me.
“I'm focused on my job and trying to help my team, trying to improve every session and trying to be as good as I can.
“I never listen to stupid things they say.”
De Gea is into the final year of his contract at Old Trafford but United hold a 12-month extension option.
And asked if he was keen to extend his stay, the Spaniard added: “I feel really loved in this club – the fans, all the people who work for this club.
"I'm really happy to be at this club. It's one of the best clubs in the world so for me, it's really good to be part of this club.”
