MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly have given up hope of signing Jadon Sancho and Declan Rice this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had identified the pair as major targets as he eyes up a massive squad overhaul at Old Trafford following their sixth-placed finish.
West Ham star Rice, 20, has flourished under the tutelage of Manuel Pellegrini and established himself as one of the Premier League's top prospects.
The Red Devils have also been keen on snaring Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, though the Bundesliga side are reluctant to sell the 19-year-old winger.
BVB CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke revealed last month: "It can be assumed that Jadon will not play more than ten years at BVB. But we have clear agreements about the present.
“Jadon is not on the market and plays next season guaranteed at Borussia Dortmund.”
According to the Evening Standard, United have now given up on trying to sign the pair, with Solskjaer "reluctantly accepting" they are out of his grasp.
Rice only signed a new long-term deal at the London Stadium in December, while Sancho looks set to stay at Signal Iduna Park for at least another season.
The report also states that United are unwilling to match Crystal Palace's £50million asking price for right-back Aaron Wan-Bisska.
It has also been claimed that they are keeping close tabs on Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff and Stoke centre-back Nathan Collins.
United are closing in on the signing of Welsh international Daniel James from Swansea for £18m.
The 21-year-old winger competed his medical at Carrington on Thursday, with the player set to earn a staggering 16 times more at the Thteatre of Dreams than at the Liberty.
