And the BT Sport pundits, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves, all ex-Manchester United stars reckoned the City players should have made the officials aware they had made a huge mistake.
Ferdinand blasted: "The City players should have stopped and told the ref look it's not a penalty."
While some may use the shocking decision as evidence VAR should be introduced, Hargreaves was having none of it.
He said: Worst refereeing decision ever.
"How many refs do they need to get that right?"
