Inter Milan have reportedly not given up on luring Luka Modric to Serie A.
The Italian giants have repeatedly been linked with a move for the Croatian this summer.
And according to Sky Italia, Inter could make a last-ditch effort to sign him Modric before Friday’s transfer deadline.
The report claims that the 32-year-old has been offered a six-year deal; four of which would be spent with Inter and two with sister club Jiangsu Suning in China.
It goes on to say that Modric has given Inter a verbal agreement but reports in Spain suggest he has been offered a new deal at Real Madrid.
And the World Cup runner-up is in the Spanish giants’ squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup against Atletico Madrid.
Premier League clubs could vote to change transfer deadline back to August 31 after just one window
Premier League clubs could abandon the new-look transfer window after just one summer.
Mirror Sport is aware of at least two clubs who voted for the change that now believe it is a mistake and they should go back to the August 31 deadline.
Several leading agents also believe that it has put English football at a major disadvantage compared to other major leagues as Spain, France and German teams can still buy players from Premier League clubs.
Premier League chiefs will discuss the window at their next meeting next month but it would take a club to propose a change back to the old system.
It would then require 14 clubs to vote in favour of going back to the old system.
