Liverpool transfer news: Reds ace Xherdan Shaqiri wanted by Real Betis should Jurgen Klopp's side nab Iker Muniain

The Swiss international has impressed for the Reds since joining from Stoke in the summer, despite being restricted to just two Premier League starts.

He has had to play second fiddle to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane on the wings, but has still managed to feature on nine occasions this season, netting once.

According to talkSPORT, he is already attracting the interest of Betis, who are vying to bring him to La Liga at the end of the season.

It has been claimed that Jurgen Klopp's side are keen on bringing Muniain to Anfield on a free transfer next summer – with him competing with Shaqiri for a place in the squad.

Muniain, 25, has amassed over 350 appearances for Bilbao since breaking into the first team at the age of 16, and has already bagged four goals this term.

And should Liverpool manage to secure the services of their long-term transfer target, Shaqiri would likely drop further down the pecking order in Merseyside.

Spanish news outlet El Gol Digital have reported that Klopp would sacrifice the 27-year-old in order to guarantee the signing of Muniain from the Basque club.

While it is also understood that Serie A side Napoli are keeping tabs on the Spanish international.

Shaqiri banged in his first goal for Liverpool last week, scoring the third at Anfield in a 4-1 win over Cardiff.
