Lionel Messi and Barcelona stars fly to face Tottenham in £4,200 suits amid rumours over Argentina's rift with Gerard Pique

The club squad travelled wearing £100,000's worth of clothing as 20 players plus manager Ernesto Valverde were decked out in the suave gear.

Barca's stars all wore outfits designed by Thom Browne tailors, the club's official off-field outfitter since July.

It included a medium grey classic Fresco jacket and trousers.

The look was completed by a white oxford shirt, tie, 4-bar cashmere vest and black pebble grain leather brogues.

Today's outing was the first for Barcelona's heroes in the Thom Browne custom made-to-measure suits and will become a regular sight for away Champions League ties and some La Liga trips over the next three years.

Barcelona take on Tottenham at Wembley tomorrow night as they look to build on their 4-0 win over PSV in the first round of matches.

Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick that night at the Nou Camp but his side have failed to win any of their three matches since.

The La Liga champions were held 2-2 with Girona before a shock 2-1 defeat at Leganes and then could only manage a 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao.

Ousmane Dembele is expected to be dropped to the bench while Valverde will switch to a 4-4-2 formation.

And according to reports in Spain, Gerard Pique is unhappy with the way Messi has failed to stand up and show leadership during the poor run of results.

It is understood there has been a complete breakdown between the two who have been friends since Messi arrived at La Masia in 2000.

Pique reportedly was angered Messi only spoke to the media when back home in Argentina and was not fulfilling his repsonsibilities as club captain.

But Messi is believed to have hit back at Pique and the Barca defence for shipping too many goals.

At the weekend, Messi said: "We have the squad and the players to be a great team, to be a strong team and not depend on anyone.

"This is Barca. We have enough players, we don't need to depend on one."

The pair are two of Barcelona's most-decorated stars and crucial to Valverde's team.

And the manager will be desperate to have them singing from the same hymn sheet when Barcelona return to England's national stadium for the first time since their 2011 Champions League final victory over Manchester United.
