Leopardstown Festival 2019: Min dazzles in dramatic Dublin Chase as Special Tiara sadly breaks down

Screens were immediately put up around the Henry de Bromhead-trained former Champion Chaser, who appeared to break down at the start of the race.

The horse was quickly dismounted by jockey Robbie Power but is reported to have sadly lost his life.

In a dramatic race, Castlegrace Paddy added to the drama with a nasty fall half-way round, leaving Ordinary World and Saint Calvados among only three remaining as the field approached the final couple of fences.

Saint Calvados gave it his all but found himself outclassed as Min breezed into the lead entering the final furlong and drew clear for an impressive victory.

Ordinary World finished well for second.

However, the contest was sadly marred by the terrible incident at the beginning of the race that saw Special Tiara lose his life.

A winner of multiple Grade 1 contests, his finest hour came when producing a fine performance in the 2017 Champion Chase.

He also put up memorable displays in the 2016 Desert Orchid and the 2015 Celebration Chase, where he ousted the sensational Sprinter Sacre.

As game as they come, he will be most remembered for his bold, front-running style and never-say die attitude.
