Jose Mourinho has backed a move for next season to enhance the atmosphere inside Old Trafford

The club are moving the ‘singing section’ from the north east corner of the ground into The Stretford End.

The club believe the extra 1,200 seats for some of the club’s most passionate fans alongside those already in The Stretford End will raise the noise levels inside the ground.

Those currently in that section of the Stretford End, which is a family area, will be moved to the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand.

A United source said: “The manager’s really appreciated the singing and support from the fans this season and he knows they’ll need all of that support in the next stage and through the home games to come. Then these changes for next season will only increase that."

Meanwhile Mourinho has escaped a UEFA charge for throwing a crate of water bottles to the ground after Marouane Fellaini’s injury time winner against Young Boys of Bern.

Mourinho said the celebration was just out of frustration.

He was criticised by TV pundits for that and for shaking his head when Marcus Rashford missed an early chance but the club hierarchy are happy with the emotion the boss shows.

A source at Old Trafford said. “The boss shares the fans' passion about this club. He’s an emotional guy and you see that whether it's reacting to what the players do on pitch or a last-minute winner to take them through the Champions League group stages.

“Is he supposed to just stand there like a robot?”
