JAMES RODRIGUEZ is ready to risk the wrath of Real Madrid supporters by joining fierce rivals Atletico, according to reports.
The Colombian is free to leave the Bernabeu at the right price following his return from a two-year loan spell with Bayern Munich.
Rodriguez, 27, is not considered part of Zinedine Zidane's plans and their relationship is at rock-bottom, according to Fox Sports.
He is currently representing Colombia at the Copa America but it remains uncertain whether he will be a Real Madrid player on his return.
The club want to offload him and use to funds to invest in other areas of the squad.
They have already spent around £270million on five signings including big money moves for Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic.
But it remains to be seen whether they would be willing to let another player leave for Atletico.
Marcos Llorente has already made the £35m switch across the capital to bolster the side's midfield.
Instead Real would prefer Rodriguez to join Italian giants Napoli who will consider enticing him to Italy by bringing the legendary Diego Maradona's No10 shirt out of retirement.
The Italian side are desperate to make the Real Madrid outcast their marquee signing of the summer.
Maradona, 58, is a legend among the people of Naples having led them to two league titles, the Coppa Italia and Uefa Cup.
He left the Italian side after seven years in 1991 and the club later retired his shirt number in his honour.
