Horror moment female race driver's car splits in TWO after smashing into tree which she incredibly survives

Valentina Tomasello somehow escaped the incident with relatively minor injuries despite being catapulted out of the car and landing on the roof of another vehicle.

The incident took place during the Toyota Grand Prix at the Sunix Race Track in Santo Domingo Este in southern Dominican Republic.

The haunting footage shows two out-of-control race cars careering across a grass area coming off the track.

The white vehicle smashes into the tree and virtually disintegrates on impact, with two leftover sections separating and spinning off in different directions.

Meanwhile, the female driver is thrown into the air and hits the roof of the red car before tumbling on to the ground.

Tomasello amazingly survived the horror smash and sent a message from her hospital bed where the Venezuelan said: "I am fine, thank God. I am born again!

"Do not worry, I have a fractured right arm but am not in any danger.

"My head, my skull and my spine are fine. I love you all so much, thank you for your messages. I have been keeping an eye out for your phone calls."

According to local media, unconscious Tomasello was rushed to the Hospital General de la Plaza de la Salud following the crash.
