Higuain impact on Hazard will be biggest benefit of his arrival on Chelsea, says Jermaine Jenas

The Argentina international is expected to be confirmed as a Blues player on Friday.

Higuain has spent the first half of the season at AC Milan but will join the West London on a six-month deal with a view to a permanent move.

He has scored just nine goals this term for the Rossoneri but is braced to join a Chelsea side desperate for fresh attacking impetus.

With manager Maurizio Sarri lacking confidence in Olivier Giroud and the soon to be offloaded Alvaro Morata, Hazard has started in a false nine role in five of the last seven Premier League games.

And with ex-Real Madrid and Napoli hitman Higuain expected to lead the line, former England international can only seeing the move benefiting Hazard.

He told Premier League Productions: "He [Higuain] can play one up top because he’s got the physical attributes.

"He’s not very tall but he can hold it in, a bit like [Sergio] Aguero does for City.

"Similar size and stature. He’s probably not on Aguero’s level but he’s a very good player.

"I think it will be as it is with Higuain through the middle and being able to bring Hazard out left.

"I think they will benefit more from getting Hazard back out on the left than they will from Higuain being in the middle."

Thirty-one-year-old Higuain has reportedly agreed a contract worth £170,000-a-week to move to Stamford Bridge, making him the club's fourth best paid player.

The move could either be made permanent in the summer or the loan agreement could be extended by another 12 months, depending on his success.

Completion of the switch must be ratified by 12pm today if he is to be eligible to make his Chelsea debut against Arsenal on Saturday.

After earning a reputation as one of the most predatory forwards in Europe, the goals have dried up for Higuain this term.

The 2015-16 campaign was the stand-out season of his career so far, when he netted 35 Serie A goals – 38 in all competitions – and finished second in the race for the Golden Shoe award, behind Barcelona's Luis Suarez.

But Jenas is concerned that with Higuain's best days behind him success in England is not guaranteed.

The ex-Tottenham midfielder added: "He’s a player that can hold up the ball, he’s actually a lot quicker than people think he is and more importantly he scores goals.

"When he was at Napoli I think he scored 38 goals in that season.

"He will stay up top and play within the areas of the 18-yard box.

"He’s very good from scoring outside the box and inside the box. In front of goal he is clinical.

"But that’s the Higuain I saw at Napoli and at Juve. This year, it’s been totally different.
