Gus Poyet sacked by Bordeaux after astonishing rant at board over sale of striker

French outlet L'Equipe have reported the 50-year-old has been given the boot after his outburst as a "precautionary measure".

But players refused to train when they heard this morning that the former Chelsea and Spurs playmaker had been axed.

Poyet was furious with the club flogging forward Gaetan Laborde to Montpellier behind his back.

The player was due to turn up to the club's Europa League qualifier against Mariupol, but did not show to their pre-match meeting at a hotel near the ground.

And only after calling the player did Poyet realise he had been sold to their Ligue 1 rivals.

He said: "I am not happy today. This is my worst day at this club.

"It's a disgrace what the club has done today with Gaetan Laborde. I told the club he could not leave until we bought another player.

"They did not listen and let Laborde go.

"We arrived at the hotel today at 11:45 and Laborde was not there. We called him and he was in Montpellier.

"Nobody told me anything!"

Assistant Eric Bedouet will be in the dugout for Sunday's game against Toulouse but the players reportedly refused to train this morning after an hour-long meeting with chairman Stephane Martin.
