The NFL’s rules for protecting the quarterbacks have been a major source of controversy early this NFL season, and now we’re at the point where players are apologizing while hitting quarterbacks.
During ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast of Steelers-Buccaneers, star defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was mic’d up for the game. He was charged with a personal foul penalty for roughing the passer in the first half, and he knew it was coming.
That’s because he apologized to Ben Roethlisberger mid-contact.
