Fulham owner Shahid Khan's son expects £800m Wembley takeover to still go through

Cottagers supremo Khan, 68, launched an £800million bid at the back end of last season to take the Home of Football off the FA’s hands.

Talk of the groundbreaking deal has gone quiet of late.

But Tony Khan, who is director of football at Fulham, is confident his dad will pull off the ambitious move.

Khan Jnr told talkSPORT: “I think it’ll happen, I don’t see any reason why not.

“There’s a lot to go through, I’m not on that team and don’t know what the daily developments are but I know my dad has been working hard to push forward with it.

“Without getting into the specifics of the bidding I believe his intention is to definitely move forward with it.

“He’s worked really hard and I think it would be great for everybody involved if it comes off because my dad really does love football.

“My dad is somebody who would be a great steward of this historical landmark, world renowned facility.

“He has so much respect, not just for the game of football, but the English game of football and it’d be a tremendous thing if it ends up happening and I expect it will happen and hope it will.”
