The former F1 ace was forced to retire early from the Marrakesh E-Prix as he hit his HWA teammate in the opening lap.
Vandoorne said: “I have learnt how to deal with these set backs so it’s nothing new for me.”
He added: “The race was very short for us, until turn one, I locked up the breaks and ran into the side of Gary [Paffett], so that was the end of the race.
"The conditions were quite tricky because the cars running off, left, right, centre, everywhere!
"I couldn’t even see where I was going with all the smoke.
"It’s frustrating because it was important for us to get to the finish and get a lot of data."
The HWA driver carries plenty of hope into the next race in Santiago, Chile on January 26th.
He added: “It is promising because we know that with the package we have when everything runs more or less smooth I don’t think it’s the quickest that’s for sure.
"But it has some pace in there, we can fight for some decent results.
"But it’s just a matter of we need clean weekends without problems and that is going to be our target to achieve."
