Fans react as after Alisson blunder gifts Man Utd an equaliser at Liverpool

The Brazilian allowed a cross from Romelu Lukaku to squirm out of his hands and fall into the path of Jesse Lingard, who buried the ball past the hapless ‘keeper.

The goal brought the scores level at 1-1 after Liverpool had dominated the majority of the first half, causing fans to take to Twitter to comment on the blunder.

Some compared the error to an early Christmas gift to United, such as American fan The Mitch PR0$P3CT!VE, who said: “Alisson doing his best St. Nic impersonation this morning”.

Reds supporter Dan Winwood tweeted: “Allison (sic) showing he is second best keeper in Liverpool #LFC #YNWA”.

And when stats site Opta reported that Alisson had made as many errors in the Premier League this season as Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius did last term, a tweeter called Anfield Effect appeared to take it a little personally, posting: “This has been reported for targeted harassment”.

Fans of other clubs have been no less harsh.

Gianni Italiano, alluding to the Reds’ former error-prone custodian, tweeted: “Alisson is just the Brazilian Karius”.

Dean Coleman tweeted: “Allison best keeper in the league ??? AllisonBlunderland”

And United fan Ricky Bobby posted a GIF to sum up how he felt when people suggest that Alisson is “better than Dave (De Gea)”….

However, most fans were quick to point out that Alisson's mistakes have been few and far between this season – and that he has kept ten clean sheets already.

With Liverpool now leading 3-1, it also seems likely that his error will not cost the Reds dearly.

Sub Xherdan Shaqiri had been on the field for a matter of seconds when his shot cannoned in off the Manchester United bar to restore the home side's lead.

He then added a third with less than ten minutes remaining.
