Ex-Stoke ace Choupo-Moting with worst miss of all time to cost PSG early title

ERIC CHOUPO-MOTING failed to make his mark at Stoke City but his legacy in football is now intact after he produced one of the worst misses of all time.

Paris Saint-Germain squandered the chance to wrap up the Ligue 1 title with victory against Strasbourg after the star needlessly stopped Christopher Nkunku's shot on the line.

Is this the worst miss of all time? ?

Eyebrows were raised when PSG signed Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting from relegated Stoke City…

The 30-year-old had given the French champions the lead but the visitors pulled back on level terms through Nuno Da Costa before Choupo-Moting's farcical blunder.

The forward found himself in the path of Nkunku's delicate chip and with the ball one yard from rolling in, Choupo-Moting managed to direct it into the post.

Bafflingly, the Cameroon international then stands behind the goal line with his arms in the air as Strasbourg defenders rush to clear the motionless ball.

The inexcusable miss then threatened to become even worse for PSG as Anthony Goncalves conjured up a brilliant volley to put the away side ahead before the break.

Thomas Tuchel's side, who had previously been behind for only three minutes in the league this season, were forced to send on Kylian Mbappe in search of an equaliser.

The 20-year-old striker, who is currently Ligue 1's top scorer with 27 goals, replaced the under-fire Choupo-Moting in the second-half.

Dani Alves came close with a spectacular overhead kick that crashed against the bar but PSG finally salvaged a draw when Thilo Kehrer headed home.

The 2-2 draw left the Parisians on 81 points from 30 games and they will wrap up their sixth title in the last seven seasons if they avoid defeat at Lille next Sunday.
