Ex-Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze hired as offensive coordinator with Arizona AAF team

Former Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze will soon be back on a football field.

Freeze has been named offensive coordinator for the Arizona Hotshots of the new Alliance of American Football.

Freeze, 49, had a 39-25 record in five seasons with the Rebels before he resigned in July 2017 after violating the morals clause in his contract.

Several months after Freeze resigned, the NCAA hit the Rebels with a three-year probation for six football staff members and 12 boosters providing approximately $37,000 to prospects through cash payments, the use of automobiles, lodging, transportation, meals and apparel. Two staff members also helped arrange fraudulent standardized test scores for three prospects.

The Committee on Infractions also found Freeze had failed to monitor the program, allowing his staff to knowingly commit a series of recruiting violations, submit false information on recruiting paperwork and not report known violations.
