England suffered another top-order collapse as they slumped to 78-4 against Windies at lunch on day one of the second Test in Antigua.
SCORECARD | COMMENTARY
After being put in to bat on a very green pitch in Antigua, England lost both of their openers within the first hour of play.
The visitors’ first Test nemesis Kemar Roach struck first, as Rory Burns edged an angled-in delivery to Jason Holder at second slip, with the Windies captain taking a good low catch.

Debutant Joe Denly was then fortunate to survive a loud lbw shout from Roach two balls later with Windies reviewing after umpire Chris Gaffney initially turning them down – with replays showing the ball as ‘umpires call’ on wickets giving the Kent all-rounder a stay at the crease.
However, his reprieve was short lived as – having been watchful – Denly edged a wide loosener from Alzarri Joseph behind to wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich.
An unplayable delivery from Joseph, which reared up off a length, then caught Joe Root on the glove and after the ball looped up, Devon Campbell managed to get a hand on it at third slip with Shai Hope diving behind his team-mate to complete the catch.
With the pitch a fast bowlers paradise, Jonny Bairstow (52 not out) counter-punched – hitting five fours off eight deliveries – but England lost a fourth wicket as Jos Buttler advanced to back-of-a-length ball from Holder, who got the ball to nip away, taking the shoulder of the bat with Campbell taking the catch at second slip.
Despite continuing to lose partners, Bairstow continued to attack launching Holder over long off for a huge six before bringing up his half-century off 59 balls as he cracked Shannon Gabriel for back-to-back boundaries.
Windies had named an unchanged side while England along with Denly having already confirmed to make his Test debut at the top of the order for the dropped Keaton Jennings brought in Stuart Broad for Adil Rashid.
