The Dodgers aren’t adding Gerrit Cole, but are still planning to bolster their rotation.
The Athletic reports that the Plan B for the Dodgers is amping up their pursuits for Madison Bumgarner. The Post’s Joel Sherman reported that the 30-year-old lefty, who has spent his entire career pitching for the rival Giants, is seeking a deal that is slightly less than the five years and $118 million Zack Wheeler got from the Phillies.
The Twins have been in talks with Bumgarner and there remains a slight chance the Giants could bring him back to San Francisco. The Angels, who also finished behind the Yankees in the Cole sweepstakes, have also been linked to Bumgarner.
Bumgarner, a three-time World Series champ, fell off a bit last season going 9-9 with a 3.90 ERA.
