Cowboys owner Jerry Jones became defensive in a radio interview when discussing the offenses of both the Los Angeles Rams and his Dallas team.
“This is the perfect example,” Jones said Friday on 105.3 The Fan in a weekly appearance. “I’m smiling at how you could take the statements I just made and develop that kind of conjecture to this is what I’m saying. I didn’t say that.
"You asked me about the Rams and how they played Thursday night. You asked me how when I see the Rams, do I see the Cowboys doing something, and you’re going to take that all the way to 35 points a game, and that’s what I’m going to read about tomorrow. That’s (expletive).
"The whole point I’m saying is I can see similarities. I can see talent similarities. I can see player similarities with a lot of their offense.”
When the radio host responded that he disagreed with that sentiment, Jones bristled back.
“That’s why you’re doing radio and they’re doing the coaching,” Jones said.
Jones’ comments came after a series of questions that asked him about whether he thought there were similarities between the offenses of both teams. The Rams, after another impressive showing Thursday night in their 38-31 victory against the Minnesota Vikings, improved to 4-0 and look like one of the best teams in the entire league through the first quarter of the season.

WEEK 4 QUESTIONS: Will Patriots avoid third straight loss?
Behind the progress of quarterback Jared Goff, Los Angeles ranks second in the league in both total offense (468.5 yards a game) and scoring (35 points a game).
The Cowboys, meanwhile, have struggled behind quarterback Dak Prescott, ranking second-to-last in scoring (13.7 points a game) and 30th in total offense (277.7 yards a game). One key reason for the poor play has been the lack of a No. 1 receiver after the team released Dez Bryant in March. The Cowboys are 1-2.
“Well, I like our offensive line, the way it stacks up against the Rams, to be specific to compare to the Rams,” Jones said. “But I like our offensive line. I think it’s fair to say we’ve both got good running backs. The quarterback, I remember Goff when they first came in and they kind of moved him along at a slower pace than Dak got to come in, but I know we have been as proud of Dak as those, the Rams fans, are of their quarterback.
“We’ve done that and have had that feeling in the past. So when I see them executing in a way and creating the offense they’ve got, I look at our personnel and … I don’t think it’s a reach to think that maybe we can approach that kind of productivity.”
Offensive coordinator Scott Linehan has come under criticism over play calling and the ineffective offense, but vowed on Thursday that the Cowboys would “just start slinging it around.” Prescott appeared to echo his coordinator’s perspective, saying “there are going to be some different things you’ll see” about the Dallas offense in their game Sunday against the Lions.
Added Jones: “When I look at the Rams as a team, I have visions of being like that.”
